The team went to China this August to teach English for two weeks. They had a wonderful experience. Last night they were able to share that with about 40 other people who prayed for and support their trip. It was great to meet new people and share about Project Partner's positive impact overseas.

Thank you to all who came. Our team appreciated your prayers and support.

If you have any interest about the English Teaching Trip in 2010, please send me an email. Hopefully we'll have the exact dates soon and can begin filling spots on the team.

For more info about Project Partner, check out our website

Trip Reception

Wanted to invite anyone who reads this and lives in the KC area to come out to hear about my recent trip to China.
It was amazing and I have many stories and photos to share. Our team will have a Trip Reception this Sunday night.

Sunday, August 30th
6:30-8pm
Indian Creek Community Church
Downstairs in the Journey Worship Center

Please come check it out if you can. We'd love to share about this wonderful experience with you.
Check out some trip photos on Project Partner's Flickr page
Nice to be Home

it's only been a few days since I came home from my recent trip to China. I'm still getting adjusted to the time difference and also still getting over my stomach bug. Hopefully both will be better by next week. It'd be nice to feel back to normal.

The trip was wonderful. Our team did a fantastic job teaching English and working together. We taught about 150 students in Macau and about 250 in China. The students really enjoy the opportunity to work on their English with Americans. Our team learned a lot about China, its people and culture. I think they had an amazing experience.

If you live in the KC area and want to hear more about the trip then come to Indian Creek Community Church on Aug. 30th at 6:30 pm. We'll be downstairs in room 020 for a time of sharing about Project Partner and also about this recent trip. We'll show lots of photos and tell stories about how the trip impacted our lives and those overseas.
Trip Update

Today was a great end to our first week. We hope it makes an impact on the students. Most of them live near the church but don't attend.

Mindy joins us tonight and then off to China tomorrow morning. It'll be a 6-7 hour bus ride so please pray for sage travel and crossing.

Team is all healthy and doing just fantastic. so thankful for both.

Thanks for prayers.

Trip Update

The trip is going well so far. Thank you to all who are praying for our team.

On the cable car riding up to Victoria's Peak in Hong Kong

The typhoon has moved through for the most part. It was rough last night, but not as bad today and it didn't keep us from classes.

Today we had our first day of classes in Macau. The students are excited to be here and our team is excited to get started. Things went pretty well overall. We started our day with some yummy Dim Sum and then did a short morning tour of Macau. It was great to learn about the city and the culture. The province has 33 casinos and more than 10 in the process of being built. Gambling is popular here because it's illegal in China and Hong Kong. So people come to Macau to hit up the casinos. The large number of casinos is making an impact on the city and changing the culture. Many students are dropping out of school to go and work for the casinos. So part of what we're doing here is encouraging the students to stay in school and complete their education.

Pic of Macau and some of the casinos

After our tour we had lunch in the Macau Tower (looks like the space needle); it's about 1000 ft tall. It was another fantastic meal. After lunch we had classes then went to a Hot Pot style restaurant for dinner. We cook our food in a common pot in the table, much like they do at Melting Pot. It was a neat experience. After dinner we had meetings to prepare for the rest of the week.

Sorry this is not super detailed, but I'm extremely tired. The team is doing well and still trying to adjust to the time change. They are all enjoying their time here.
Please continue to pray for health and energy. Also pray for us to be a light to our students and the opportunity for good interaction tomorrow.
Here We Go

Today we leave the US and fly to Hong Kong.
Please pray for our safe travels, smooth connections and a safe arrival.

Also pray for confidence in Him as many journey to new lands and unfamiliar places.

Pray for God's peace and protection to covet us as we go.

I'll let everyone know once we arrive at our destination in Hong Kong.

Thank you for playing a part in our team by supporting us in prayer.

For inside updates and trip pics, follow me on Twitter, projectpartner
Gettin' Ready to Go

Making my to do list, packing and searching for some items I need to take with me...Just a few of the things I'm doing as I prepare to head back to China.
Our team is going to teach English for two weeks. Our trip is 12 days away and we're building our prayer team. I'll use my blog to post trip updates and photos and also prayer requests. Let's start praying now as our team prepares for their journey.

As always, pray as you feel led and lift up these requests:
1. For Good Health for our Team - it's important we are not sick when we travel and pass through customs. If we are sick or appear sick then we may be quarantined and this would delay our trip.

2. For the Preparation for the Hearts and Attitudes of our Team - We believe God wants to use us in a great way. We want to be prepared for this and ready to be his hands and feet.

3. For God to Go Ahead of Us and Prepare the Way - We realize some trials and challenges are part of God's plan. We ask that God would go ahead of us to prepare our path and also knock down any barriers and schemes of the Enemy.

4. For our Team Leaders, Matt and Kristen - We need God's wisdom and discernment as He prepares us to lead. Ask Him to equip us for the tasks ahead.

Thank you for joining our team by supporting us through prayer. I know from experience that your prayers make a difference and will be greatly appreciated by our team.
Chinaid - Don't miss it!

Chinaid is almost here!
Come hear Starlit Platoon and support a good cause.

Saturday July 18th @ Indian Creek Community Church
Olathe, KS
Doors open at 6:30 pm, Concert starts at 7 pm

Tickets: $10
On sale NOW online and at Indian Creek.
Also available at the door

Chinaid is a benefit concert for China, sponsored by Project Partner.
